Garden Speak Seminars

 

 

It truly has been a wicked winter – rain, snow, sleet, frigid cold – and we’re definitely ready for Spring! Our 2010 Spring GardenSpeak Seminars will energize your gardening spirit and lay a path for beautiful additions and alterations to your home garden. Join us on Saturday mornings at 9:15 for about an hour. Seminars are held rain or shine, so come out and collect wonderful ideas to sow in your landscape.

 

April 3 – Soil Food: Monrovia knows plants, and they know that healthy plants begin with healthy soil. Learn about Monrovia’s new soil conditioner and potting soil, both rich in micorrhizae, compost and slow-release fertilizer, from Ed Wooster and soil technical consultant Henry Ortland.

 

April 10 – In a Southern Garden: What makes a garden quintessentially Southern? Join long-time gardener and writer Terri Price as she explores the must-have plants for your own down-south landscape.

 

April 17 – Producing Perennials: Divide and conquer, propagate and grow your treasured perennials with tips from Broad River Botanical’s Ashley and Jose Garcia.

 

April 24 – An Annual Affair: They bring color and energy to our gardens, and because they last but one season, you can change your garden instantly. Doug Smith of Smith Plant Factory will highlight some of the stellar annuals you need to look for this season.

 

May 1 – Pot That!: Here she goes again! Our own Jana Fredricks will leave you gasping for breath as she plants intriguing and exciting containers that will last from now until fall. This crowd-pleasing seminar is one you will not want to miss!

 

May 8 – Here Come the Hummers: Want to attract more of those jewels of the bird world to your garden? Join hummingbird and garden lover Diana Collier and her husband, Dale, for tips on plants to please these tiny friends.

 

May 15 – A Rose by Any Other Name …: What’s a garden without roses? Lisa Hansley demonstrates some of her favorites along with tips for incorporating them into your landscape.

 

May 22 – Cooking with Herbs: Join former chef and current Lichtenfelt Nurseries staff member Edwin Novoa as he prepares treats with these culinary plants from the garden. Bring your taste buds!

 

May 29 – Where the Sun Don’t Shine: Or the grass won’t grow, or the rain won’t fall … Whatever the problem place in your landscape, Joey Shands has some ideas to address it. Formerly with Dan West Garden Center in Memphis, Joey brings his extensive experience to Lichtenfelts.
