The
largest-growing of all the Pink Chinese Fringe, this plant is grown
for its attractive BURGUNDY leaves, PINK flowers in early spring AND
its LARGE-GROWING growth-habit. Flowers are lacy like witchhazel
blooms and appear in March & April.
Plant alone as a specimen or space 8-10' apart. Expect plants to grow
together in about 3 years after planting.
See
our 'Zhuzhou' near the bog in our display gardens.
Leaves remain on plants year-round, except in unusually cold winters
when they may lose up to 1/3 of their leaves. In those years, leaves
re-emerge early the following spring.
Plants mature at 8-10' or taller by an equal width. May maintain at 6'
tall & wide. Expect 2' or more growth a year.
Plant in sun to light shade. Plants which have no irrigation perform a
bit better in a spot which receives some shade from the hottest part
of the afternoon summer sun.
