'Little Gem' Magnolias are grown on a trellis for planting against
walls or fences. Fragrant white flowers cover the plants in Spring,
Summer and AGAIN in FALL!
Deep-green leaves remain on the plants year-round.
The
plants are easily maintained in this form by the gardener by
periodically trimming and securing the growing branches to the wall or
fence on which it is grown.
Plant the 'Little Gem' close to and slightly tilted toward the
structure on which it is planted. It is a matter of personal
preference whether or not the trellis is removed.
'Little Gem' matures at 15-20' tall by 8-10' wide. May easily maintain
at half this size with periodic trimming. Expect about 12" of growth a
year.
Plant in sun to light shade. Plants are very drought-tolerant after
their first year in the garden.
