Kousa Dogwoods produce WHITE flowers in May and
"raspberry-like" red berries in fall.
Also known as "Chinese" Dogwoods, Kousa Dogwoods flower AFTER leaves
emerge in the spring unlike our native dogwoods which flower BEFORE
leaves appear.
Kousa Dogwoods are also more drought-tolerant and
disease-resistant than our native dogwoods.
Kousa Dogwoods mature at about 15' tall by 10-15' wide.
Expect about 12" growth a year.
While Kousa Dogwoods are said to tolerate more sun than our native
dogwoods, we believe they perform best if planted in a spot which
receives a little shade from the hottest part of the afternoon summer
sun. |
