Also known as 'Sizzling Pink', this plant is grown
for its attractive BURGUNDY leaves, PINK flowers in early spring AND
for its neat growth-habit. Flowers are lacy like witchhazel blooms
and appear in greatest profusion in March and April, then sporadically
all summer and fall.
Space plants 5-6' apart when planting at the foundation of your home
or in garden beds. Expect plants to grow together in 2-3 years after
planting.
Leaves remain on plants year-round, except in unusually cold Winters
when they may lose up to 1/3 of their leaves. In those years, leaves
re-emerge early the following spring.
Plants mature at 5-6' tall and wide. May maintain at 4' tall and wide
with once-a-year trimming. Expect 1-2' growth a year.
Plant in sun to light shade. Plants which have no irrigation perform a
bit better in a spot which receives some shade from the hottest part
of the afternoon summer sun. |
