Fragrant Tea Olive

(Osmanthus fragrans)

Also known as "Fragrant Osmanthus", this Southern favorite is grown for its small, FRAGRANT WHITE flowers in March, with some repeat-blooming in October.

Plants are evergreen and look great all winter if sited where they don't receive much winter wind.  In windy spots, leaves may suffer some leaf-burn.

In colder, windy areas, plant Fortune's Osmanthus, which has the same fragrant flowers, but in October, rather than March, and suffers no winter damage in our area.

See our 'Fortune's' Tea Olive planted in front of the KinderGarden.

Plants mature at 10-15' tall by 8-10' wide.  May easily be maintained at 6' tall and wide by once-a-year trimming any time between March and August.  Expect 1-2' growth a year.

Plant in sun to light shade.
